The Burren is an area of Ireland known for its rocky terrain. Mostly limestone, some sandstone, mudstone and siltstone. As I approached the Burren and could see the rocky formations, the ancient ones began humming to me: a gentle persistent call that wasn’t quite auditory, but was perceptible nonetheless.
The persistence of the hum escalated the moment I entered a grove of hazels covered in moss and ivy in Burren National Park. There were moss-covered stones everywhere, and I felt instant reverence. I had to stop everything and listen, to honor as fully as possible what potent magic and mystery was present there.
I listened openly and intently. Bit by bit, the messages from these ancient ones came through. The one in the picture below especially commanded my attention.
